Freud will have a field day
with this one. This is a sculpture of the standard double-helix
form, with no amino acids. It is made of polished metal, and stands
stout, and imposingly vertical. This seems to be a representation
of what people commonly think of DNA. DNA is often thought of as
an immutable, all-powerful structure that dictates the fates of
everybody. Through my work, I’d like to poke fun at this idea
of genetic determinism, and show that DNA itself contains little
inherent power, but its expression in varying contexts does.
